Beat of My Heart

If only you knew how much I miss you!
My sorrows chant lonesome lullabies when I am alone in my castle – alone in my heart.
The beat it makes doesn’t come from the pool of blood rushing in to keep my breath alive.
No, it’s the beat coming from my fist.

Pound, pound, pound!

I feel stuck inside these walls what others would call a heart.
Can I get out? I am a prisoner of my own love. To love, to be loved.
Can’t I just have it without suffering? Without dying inside these walls?
Though, I beat a thousand times, a death comes over me. The death of love.
Though, I beat as loud as I can, will it be enough for you to hear?
I wish you could hear.

If only you knew how much I miss you!
